Nova Scotia`s moratorium on commercial evictions precedes the CECRA program. With effect from March 31, 2020, it prohibits retail and commercial owners from exercising actions for annulment or in emergency situations under the Law on Rental and State of Emergency. This applies to rent due on 22 March 2020 or after 22 March 2020 by a retail tenant or a business whose activities must be "substantially and directly limited" or totally closed by an order of the Health Protection Act.
